The Sandhills Guest House Motel opened it's doors on March 3rd, 2006 as Atkinson's newest independently owned lodging facility.  It boasts 20 spacious interior units; all 100% smoke-free.

  • In 2008, the SGH was approved as a AAA Diamond Rated Motel & is featured in AAA publications and on AAA.com.

  • In 2009, the SGH was recognized by FreshStay.com for its dedication to maintaining a 100% Smoke-Free Facility and its commitment to improving indoor air quality.

  • In April, 2010, the SGH became a Certified Member of Greener Byways of Nebraska by demonstrating environmentally friendly standards and practices.     

  • In April of 2013, the SGH was accepted as a Bronze level GreenLeader, into the TripAdvisor GreenLeaders program.

  • In October of 2013 our staff member, Linda Anson, was awarded the Certificate for Exceptional Frontline Customer Service by the Nebraska Tourism Commission.

  • In January of 2014 our General Manager, Pam Winer was awarded the Above & Beyond award for her involvement & service with the Atkinson Area Chamber of Commerce.

  • In April of 2014, the SGH was accepted as a Silver level GreenLeader in the TripAdvisor GreenLeaders Program.

  • In 2014 the SGH was presented with an Award Of Excellence from Booking.com for having a review score of 9.0/10 as honored by our guests.

  • April 2015, SGH was honored by TripAdvisor as a Silver level GreenLeader.

  • December 2015, the SGH was presented with an Award Of Excellence (as honored by our guests) through Booking.com for having a review score of 9.1/10. 

  • December 2016, the SGH was presented with an Award Of Excellence through Booking.com for having a review score of 9.2/10.  

  • In January of 2017 an expansion project of four additional guest rooms was started. New rooms were completed and opened in May, 2017. 

  • December 2017, the SGH was presented with an Award Of Excellence through Booking.com for having a review score of 9.2/10.

  • October 2018, the SGH was awarded a RECOGNITION OF EXCELLENCE by HotelsCombined.
